A funny thing happened on the way to give blood...

This morning I attended The Crossing Church of the Nazarene.  It just so happened that Bonfils, a Denver based blood donation service, had a truck there.  The good people of Bonfils were able to squeeze me into their truck and squeeze out some blood.  I had a discussion with a lady as she measured my blood pressure.

I said, "I had no idea you'd come to a church on Sunday to get blood."

"Well, we have to work every day," she replied.  "Doesn't it seem funny to you that the Church has us working on Sundays?  They're not working, but they expect us to."

I had assumed she was a volunteer, but apparently not.  I said, "I thank you for your work.  I know you must be doing this because you know the great benefits for all of us."

She said, "Yeah, but don't you think it's funny."

I thought about it for a few minutes.  Just before the needle was inserted, I told her, "Jesus healed people on the Sabbath and the lawyers got on his case for it.  If you're doing God's work, when is not an issue."

I want to not just be someone who hears God's calling, but someone who acts upon it.

God bless the ladies in that Bonfils truck today.  May they have joy and satisfaction from working to heal the community.

Epiphany...

Actually, I've not had an epiphany; I'm just sick and tired of low living.  I didn't make a New Year's resolution; I need to make a change.
